Yes. Māla o Kīlauea welcomes small, intentional gatherings such as retreats, workshops, weddings, celebrations of life, and creative residencies. The property offers flexible indoor and outdoor spaces surrounded by gardens and rainforest, ideal for private, meaningful events. We work closely with each host to ensure every detail reflects the spirit of the land and the purpose of your gathering.

Is the heated saltwater pool open year-round?
Yes. Our pool is gently heated to around 83°F year-round, providing the ideal balance of comfort and connection to nature. Whether you’re enjoying a morning swim surrounded by misty rainforest air or an evening float beneath the stars, the water stays inviting in every season.
How far is the nearest beach?
Māla o Kīlauea is near several unique Big Island beaches. Pohoiki Beach, part of Isaac Hale Beach Park, is one of the newest black sand beaches and features a swimmable boat ramp with volcanic-heated saltwater — just minutes from the retreat. Kehena Black Sand Beach, about 10 minutes away, is a crescent-shaped, clothing-optional beach known for its dramatic black sand, wild surf, frequent dolphin sightings, and lively Sunday drum circle. Access involves a steep, rocky path, and swimming can be dangerous due to strong rip currents, so caution is advised.
Can I modify or cancel my reservation?
A 10% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your stay.
Cancellations or date changes made 30 days or more in advance may be altered without additional fees (your deposit remains non-refundable).
