What we collect and why

Booking requests and reservations. When you check availability or book, you enter details such as your dates, number of guests, name, email address, phone number and any message. We use them to handle your reservation. They are processed by our booking platform (Connect) and our property management system (Lodgify).
Contact form. When you use the form on our Contact Us page, we receive your name, phone number, email address and message by email, and a copy is stored in our website’s database so we can reply.
Newsletter sign-up. When you subscribe in the footer, we receive your email address so we can send you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing us.
Spam protection. The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA, which collects device and usage information to tell people from bots. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms apply.
Security and hosting. Like all websites, our servers (hosted by Kinsta, with Cloudflare content delivery) and our security tools log technical data such as IP addresses and browser type to keep the site secure and working.

Some pages include content from other services, which may receive your IP address and set their own cookies when the page loads:

We do not use advertising or analytics tracking cookies. The site uses cookies and browser storage only where needed for it to work, such as your booking search, your accessibility-tool preferences and security. The third-party services above may set their own cookies.

Who we share your data with

Only the services needed to provide your stay and run this website: our booking platform and Lodgify (reservations), our email provider, our hosting provider and the services listed above. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

Reservation details: as long as needed for your stay and for legal, tax and accounting purposes.
Contact form messages and newsletter sign-ups: until you ask us to delete them, or once they are no longer needed.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing malaokilauea@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example California, the UK or the EU), you may have further rights under local law.
